Vietnam Insight - 12 days - Your Journey starts Saigon, ends Hanoi or revert.

Days 1 – 4 ~ Saigon & Mekong Delta Arrive in Saigon, Vietnam’s largest city. Here we stroll along the city’s historic Dong Khoi Street, the former Rue Catinat, and visit the Reunification Palace and War Remnants Museum. Gain a true insight into the resilience of the Vietnamese people at the amazing Cu Chi tunnels then travel to Can Tho in the heart of Vietnam’s Mekong Delta. Explore the rivers and canals of this fascinating region by boat, visiting local farmhouses and fruit orchards and meeting some intriguing local characters. This evening, why not join the locals on a riverside promenade, savoring the relaxing ambience while you watch sampans glide across the sampans glide across the slow-moving river.

Days 5–6 ~ Hoi An Your day begins with an early morning boat trip to the floating markets of Cai Rang - a fascinating spectacle. Return to Saigon and fly north to Danang, gateway to charming Hoi An. Discover traditional houses and temples and the iconic Japanese Bridge on a walking tour. For something different, we embark on the family-run ‘Fisherman eco-tour’ that gives you a real insight into Vietnamese life. Try your hand at their fishing techniques and learn how to navigate a basket boat through the narrow waterways! In your free time join a fun cooking class.

Day 7 ~ Hue Leaving charming Hoi An behind, drive through spectacular coastal scenery to Hue, visiting the sacred Marble Mountain along the way. In the former imperial capital we explore the city’s historic sites, including the Citadel, elaborate emperors’ tombs and the Thien Mu Pagoda.

Days 8–12 ~ Halong Bay & Hanoi Arrive in Hanoi and visit the ancient Temple of Literature and infamous Hanoi Hilton prison, and enjoy a famous water puppet performance. We travel to Halong Bay, where we experience an overnight cruise on our private boat – the perfect opportunity to truly appreciate this magical bay with its thousands of limestone islands. On our return to Hanoi, discover more of the city on a fascinating cyclo ride through the colorful Old Quarter and learn all about the life and legend of ‘Uncle Ho’ at his former home and mausoleum. Your journey ends with an airport transfer on day 12.

Ho Chi Minh City
Ho Chi Minh City formerly named Saigon, is the largest city in Vietnam. It was once known as Prey Nokor (Khmer: ព្រៃនគរ), an important Khmer sea port prior to annexation by the Vietnamese in the 17th century.
Under the name Saigon, it was the capital of the French colony of Cochin-china and later of the independent state of South Vietnam from 1955 to 1975. In 1976, Saigon merged with the surrounding Gia Định Province and was officially renamed Hồ Chí Minh City after Hồ Chí Minh (although the name Sài Gòn is still commonly used.)

Hoi An
Hội An is a city of Vietnam, on the coast of the South China Sea in the South Central Coast of Vietnam. It is located in Quảng Nam province and is home to approximately 120,000 inhabitants. It has been recognized as World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The city possessed the largest harbour in Southeast Asia in the 1st century and was known as Lâm Ấp Phố (Champa City). Between the seventh and 10th centuries, the Cham (people of Champa) controlled the strategic spice trade and with this came tremendous wealth. The boats still used today in Hội An probably have the same hull shape as those used by the Champas for ocean voyages.

Hue
Huế is the capital city of Thừa Thiên - Huế province, Vietnam. Between 1802 and 1945, it was the imperial capital of the Nguyễn Dynasty. It is well known for its monuments and architecture. Its population stands at about 950,000 people.

Ha Noi
Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam and the country's second largest city. Its official name is Thủ đô Hà Nội ("Hanoi the Capital"). From 1010 until 1802, it was the most important political centre of Vietnam. It was eclipsed by Huế during the Nguyễn dynasty as the capital of Vietnam, but Hanoi served as the capital of French Indochina from 1902 to 1954. From 1954 to 1976, it was the capital of North Vietnam.
The city is located on the right bank of the Red River. Hanoi is located at 1,760 km (1,090 mi) north of Ho Chi Minh City.
October 2010 officially marked 1000 years since the establishment of the city. On this occasion, Hanoi was named by Frommer's travel guide as one of the world's "Top Destinations 2010"

Ha Long
Hạ Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a popular travel destination, located in Quảng Ninh province, Vietnam. Administratively, the bay belongs to Hạ Long City, Cẩm Phả town, and part of Van Don district. The bay features thousands of limestone karsts and isles in various sizes and shapes. Hạ Long Bay is a center of a larger zone which includes Bái Tử Long bay to the northeast, and Cát Bà islands to the southwest. These larger zones share similar geological, geographical, geomorphological, climate, and cultural characters.
